Carnival - May 26th-May 29, 2006
The
Orlando Carnival Association, Inc. has been hosting “Orlando
Carnival”, A Caribbean-style Mardi Gras on Memorial
Day Weekend for the past 18 years. The 4-day Caribbean festival
will consist of live shows, including a Kiddies Carnival,
J’Ouvert (the beginning of the festival), steelband
music, dj’s, calypso, ethnic foods, souvenirs, and the
grand finale…… a street parade through downtown
Orlando and into Tinker Field (in the Citrus Bowl complex).
For the first time, our new venue, Tinker Field, allows patrons
to have stadium seating We are also extending the festival
to four days to include, not only Caribbean music (Reggae.
Soca, etc.) but hip-hop. This year, the festival takes place
May 26-May 29th.
We expect in excess of 50,000 participants
to come into Orlando from all over the world. What a fantastic
way to experience the Caribbean right here in Orlando. It
is a time to forget your problems, just relax, and enjoy the
weekend.
For the Orlando Carnival Association to put
on this event, financial assistance is needed. OCA needs this
help to pay for Orlando Police, Fire Department, Sanitation,
Stadium, Barricades, Insurance, and several other cost-bearing
institutions which we are obligated to pay or hire.
OCA is not only about carnival….. members
are very involved in community events. For instance, around
Thanksgiving and Christmas, members seek needy families to
assist with food and gifts for children. Last year, OCA hosted
a benefit for victims of hurricane Katrina. In the future,
we hope to be able to offer scholarships to young people in
the community.
A gift to OCA is a tax-deductible contribution,
is used for a worthy cause, and at the same time, it exposes
your business to thousands. A good many of these people may
eventually relocate to the Orlando area. No gift will be too
small, so whatever you could afford will be greatly appreciated.
Your company will also be listed in our Souvenir Journal that
our patrons take back with them to their hometown, and knowing
that you contributed to the carnival will be your way of giving
back to the community.
The
Orlando Carnival Association is a member of the Orlando Convention
and Visitors Bureau is recognized as a 50lc(3) organization
in accordance with Florida Statutes. We look forward to you
joining us to “experience the Caribbean right here in
Orlando.”
